I see a very nice amount of manual anti-aliasing here on the linework, which is awesome. Combining that with a pixellated edge outside the object looks great, but I can't place my finger on why. Maybe because, at least in a computer game, those objects could overlap without outside anti-aliasing getting in the way. I adore the shading effect on the hammer. By the way, is that your character/persona in there with the hammer? I'm curious to know, because I've been wanting to draw you some gift art for a while, but couldn't find a reasonably full reference.

Also I have to echo caution_cat's comment... don't be surprised if you get someone into enough of a lather with this for them to openly express/vent it on this page.

Yes, that character, Chi, is who I represent myself with. I have some old reference pictures on dA and I've been working on new ones to reflect his most recent design change. His new design features a different glove and his weapon is more defined, but that's only important within the context of the story he's in.

I can't get past how awesome you actually made the dog look, since it has such a realistic feel to it, and you even managed to do a rad job shading it. Always a fan of how you choose colors too, haha.
