A fellow I once worked with told me when he was in the Navy in WW II one of his jobs was protecting divers who had to disarm a Japanese harbor mine, which was the size of a small boat. The device had washed up on the beach, which gave the divers easy access, and so they didn't get wet. However, my friend noticed that both the diver's shirts were soaked through. He asked the divers if they got wet by the waves, and one fellow replied, "Heck no. This is Sweat!"
