Well, at three feet away it is, but no model contest winner. It was a private commission. Which reminds me that I didn't take any photos of the XB-29 model I also finished today for the Museum of Flight.

Ha! I can just see Boeing field being the launchsite, and the Space needle taken over for a command center. First wave of missiles will ether be at Olympia, to get rid of the sales tax, or at Portland international, Seattle's closest rival.

In practice, the missiles were pretty much shoot and scoot, any firm bit of pavement could be a launch point, preferably with trees or other cover, since it took some time to set up and fuel the thing. Fixed launch points could too easily detected and attacked. The capitol complex in Olympia or the Portland airport would be too small of targets for them, hardly pinpoint weapons.

And of course, if they used certain fuel combinations, it could blow up on the pad. I understand but have not studied that they used Hydrogen peroxide on some of their odder jets, I think the Komet, and possibly this.

I think the lesson learned there is Mobility, and things like Forts are not as good as they once were. I wonder if this will claim what we use as our Main Battle Tank, the A-1 Abrams in favor of Humvees with rocket launchers.

The fuel was LOX and alcohol, though used hydrogen peroxide to run the turbopumps.

How big is this? I am guessing 1 foot on the wings an height of ~3 1/2 -4 feet ?

As mentioned on top, about 36 in./90cm. the bottom half is about 11in/28cm

For its time the V2 was a masterpiece. It's sad that it was developed for such destructive purposes though. After Germany lost there was a big rush by both Russia and the US to get their hand on the research and the remaining V2's

Ironically, almost the same exact technology, though in a much smaller scale, was worked out and test flown by Robert Goddard, but his own reluctance to become a research program instead of a one-man show kept his work obscure and underdeveloped.

Looks Excellent! i think the only quibble s the lack of red edging, traditionally done for cut away models, but then the commissioner could have specified not. Take as many Photos as you can of those, next time.

The XB-29 is 1/72, based on the Academy kit. Now that I have most of my commissions done, I can get back to the ships. Likely the Shinano first, though I'd be jumping between any number of things. But all that has to wait until i get back from Australia.
