This is the latest edition to my piece Atlantis. I added both a Male and Female chorus, french horns, fixed a lot of volume issues (velocity), and re orchestrated a few stringed parts. I made parts that i covered up in the past two versions more apparent near the end (ie French Horns). I hope everyone enjoys, you can read the story of my Atlantis below.
Here my beloved Atlantis piano piece, but orchestrated. I am still hesitant on the percussion, so i stuck with a snare and a timpani. Still learning the inner workings of EWQLO. I have to have TONS of instruments now to get all the desires effects. Fast strings, slow strings, all are now separate channels and different instruments in the score.
And to read as you listen, here is the story of my beloved home
There is knowledge in this life that should be known to many of how my race truly began, it is nothing at all like what you would hear from those above us, from those who walk upon the land and live in the fresh breeze, not at all like the selfish races would have you believe. They would tell you that we were nothing but a barbaric race, who lived for nothing but blood and power, this is lies told to keep others from us and to protect their generations.
There was a time long ago where we once also felt the grass beneath out every footsteps and felt the sun warm our flesh, we were known as the Drow, a sect of Elves who longed for a better world than the one we lived in. But fate has a strangeness about it and set us on a self-destructive path, our people with no other place to go with such destruction at hand so chose to live near the vast glistening oceans that stretched as far as the seeing eye could gaze.
Though the Earth was still quite young in its age our race above all who swept across its lands, seeking power for ourselves through the means of making all other races subservient to us, there were only one race who resisted, Dwarves, those who were merely greater in strength by dwelling in darkened places which my people hardly dare tread. It was our small portion of fair Elves, once people of the forest, who sought to free all slaves and end their suffering but it is within our own great minds that we became blind to the tyranny that soon took hold of us. For power has a way of corrupting even the greatest ideals of things.
It was not long before the other Elves, our own race surged up with their slaves at hand and fought, succeeding to banish us from our home for what troubles we had caused. Our leaders hardly paid heed to this at the time and so we set out towards the cliffs that marred the ocean beginnings, there we started anew, re-built a wondrous city that we came to call Atlantis. Our people learned to harness the great and never ending energy of the watery depths next to which we lived, we created a protective shield over our new home from this, to keep out those who still waged battles and wars against us.
Centuries passed and though we as a people thrived, safe in our city guarded by an evanescent power, we still fought amongst our race outside the unbreakable walls. An unforgiving circumstance we lay upon ourselves could never wash away the past misdeeds we’d done, unlike the waves that forever rolled upon the shores below us, taking away time after time the sand and micro-creatures that dwelled beneath its waters. It was not until our last great immortal King Cyx took a stand along with the Elven King Jend'ahil and made an agreement together that would ensure the end of a previously endless time of destruction.
But all was not as it seemed to be there for there was still betrayal to be had, both Kings agreed to give up their immortality to save our people and end the Great War between us. The Elven King turned his back on the wager at the very last moment, he did not give up his immortality as ours did, instead he rose up with his armies and captured Cyx in the moment his immortality fled him. With our King gone the shields that kept us safe no longer stood, our city was bare for any and all to pillage.
Just when the Drow’s fate seemed inevitable our highest priests together with our Queen, stood ground and using the last of their own powers erected a replacement magical barrier, to once more keep our people safe from harm that would surely befall us. But every magical enchantment has its own consequences and the effect of such immense and sudden rising of power shattered the lands around our city, causing our home to also crumble within as we slowly sank into the dark murky depths of the ocean we once drew safety from.
It has been thousands of years since that fated day has passed and my people have changed so much since then, the barrier was never meant to hold for long and we adapted becoming people of the sea, know now as the Merrow. We look much like strange Mer-people with our webbed hands and feet, our large eyes that can see through the dark murky waters that fill our homes and smooth the scaled skin and gills that protects us from our element and allow us to filter air from the ocean to breathe.
Over the years we again began to re-build our Empire crafting it from the sands and rocks that caressed us at the very bottom of the ocean, I am old and soon fade as many things in our history have but until then I stay and watch over the Grand Marshal of my people. The son of our stolen King Cyx and the High Priestess Zira, he has grown well to lead us; the keeper of our faith, Zironyxcyx and whom life is immortal for, Jend'ahil thought he would be the one to gain the years that our long-gone King had given up, but he was wrong.
I would be proud to one day call this prodigy son my King but I know that destiny has another path for me before such a time, I know his part of the knowledge to come is not mine to tell, but I am glad to have lived long enough to pass on what I have to you now. What will become of the Merrow once I am gone to watch upon them, only the Divine Ones know and I have faith in them that they will keep Zironyxcyx and my people on a righteous way, but now you have the knowledge and truth of the history of my people what you decide from it is your own will.
