Still no proper internet at home..... and with no ThatGuyWithTheGlasses videos, I do a lot of homework, but how much can one do before going on a killing spree? Hence I tried finishing some pictures. I wanted to wait with uploading until I have a proper connection, but the one I've finished was so amazing that I wanted to share it with you people right away. And this..... isn't it, I just finished it before the thing that I was proud of, and figured I should upload this before that one. PATIENCE!!!
Time spend on this: 5 and a half hours. From that 3 and a half hours were spend on the lines, a half hour on coloring, 15 minutes on the background and 1 hours plus 15 minutes on the shading.
I admit, it's a tad rushed thing, but comparing it to the cheap sketch that it was born from, I'd say it looks fairly good. And no... I'm still not getting tired of the idea of mixing Cromartie High School with Persona 4. Although admittedly, it is quite stupid...... AH WELL, what I'm most proud of is the light effect from the eyes of Shadow Mechazawa. I never did anything like that. It's an interesting trick to remember. Looks much more realistic than any beam of light I've ever done before!
And in case anyone now wants to remind me how I've recently cried about not being able to draw anything anymore.... YES, I get it, I was being stupid... and wrong... I'll surely draw more original work in the future and I'm sure they'll be better than this piece anyway.

I found out about the nostalgia critic a few months ago, and burned through all his videos :(. So it doesn't hurt to save some for later :p
Nice picture man. I will admit that I don;t actually get it, but there is a nice atmosphere to it. Also, this is the first time I have seen a speech blurb being effected by scene lighting, as if it was physically there. Its... kind of a nice touch.

I'm into the whole TGWTG site and I used to have dreams of being a member on the site, but I figured long ago that it's impossible!
Thank your for your comment. I think that's one of the saddest things to me: Working so hard and long on something and it being left with no comments. You saved me here!
As to the speech bubble(s), I recall that when reading Scott McCloud's book on comic making (one of the few books that I read from start to finish), he did say that it's not unheard of to make creative use of these bubbles. There are several style in which they can be made, so they can be used in different ways too. I think he even presented an example where a little frightened boy was confronted by a big dragon or demon and to present the threat, the artist drew the speech bubble like a long and confusing rope. His speech wasn't that long or elaborate, but this "tail end of the bubble" was swirling and spiraling all around the panel, and it even was around the body of the body (behind him and in front of him) almost like giving a message that "his speech alone" could kill the boy by strangling him.
Now that I think about it, my comic is so meta and yet I've made no speech bubble gag in it yet, surprising!
