I was blessed with a very close encounter with my favorite bird today as a INCREDIBLE birthday present! He let me snap several photos of him. I also have a video of him eating a snake on youtube. xD

Love their calls.. we have been lucky and for the last 30 years since I was a kid really living where we do there is a large eucalyptus tree grove at a nearby field and we have a resident pair of red tails, black-tipped kites and a few others that have recently moved into the area. We get to witness their air battles and courting right from our own yard as well as many other birds of prey that migrate through the area every year. The most wonderful experience I think I have had is when a Master Falconer had his Peregrine Falcon do a fly by of my head. I could feel the brush of his wings and the force of the wind in my hair as he buzzed past me to snatch the lure out of the air. I would NOT advise doing such a thing because if I had happened to move or twitch at just the wrong time I would have been in a world of hurt..I had total trust in the handler and had known him for some time.
