The Chain of Command
Finally, here's a long overdue reference of my characters! There's been a lot of confusion about LN's species, age and gender, plus I suppose the other two weren't official 'til now :3 Hopefully this will clear everything up!
From left to right:
LITTLE NAPOLEON (N. diminutivus)
Species: Calico Fox
Age: NOT A CUB! He's just got height issues - think Yosemite Sam :3
Occupation: Frustrated World Conqueror, Official Gallery Mascot
Other images: 1 | 2 | 3
Notes: Prone to delusions of grandeur, LN can be illustrated either as he is - a pipsqueak with an inflated ego - or as he views himself - a gritty commander full of gravitas.
JOSEPHINE
Species: Red Fox
Occupation: Captain, Napoleonic-era Infantry
Other images: 1 | 2
Notes: This is actually the first time I've finished a drawing of Josephine, though I've had the idea for her for a while!
embeo and
haligren both helped immensely in her design and her personality. She's a no-nonsense type of gal, tough, but still feminine, and able to take a joke. Think Captain Amelia from Treasure Planet, as Embeo aptly pointed out, but maybe not so judgmental. She does her best to put up with LN but at times he certainly tests her patience...
FEMME LN (N. feminina)
Species: Calico Fox
Occupation: Commander, 63rd Regiment
Other images: 1 | 2 | 3
Notes: Thanks to
joeyjoeyg and some confused other folks Femme LN has now been drawn several times, which I guess means she's canon XD She's definitely not shy, and is rumored to have mischievous tendencies. She changes outfits often though she tends to stick with uniforms ... at least when she's wearing anything at all >>;
Note: Femme LN has leveled up to V2.0, Ellen!
Think that covers everything! If anybody has any questions, let me know~

blackwell suggested we call her Ellen :3 That sound better?
Actually.... if I had to write a story....
How would you feel if, in the not-so-very immediate future (over the next couple of months probably), I wrote a story surrounding some of your characters and themes? I think I could probably fill half a book with the adventures of Femme LN alone. It would probably be rated pg-13. Probably.
Man, I need to drink less coffee. That stuff fills my head with a million thoughts at once.

They do that! Or at least, they'll put extra coffee in your coffee at dunkin donuts. I sometimes wonder how many double-shots they're allowed to give you in one drink.
It would probably be rated R at the worst, but more than likely anything that would seriously surround your characters would mostly remain pg-13. I'm thinking anime-style story telling taking place in a war-time environment of the not-so-distant past, following the antics of a small platoon of quirky soldiers and their chain of command.

I’ve probably said this before, but I haven’t said it this year yet: you have a wonderful art style! You somehow manage to convey a lot about their character through poses and expressions.
I still don’t quite know if it’s an individual feature that make your artwork stand out, like your choice of colours, shading techniques or the way you put wrinkles in historical uniforms; or if it’s some advance form of art chemistry that uses individual features as reactants and the product is a visually appealing work of art?
Further analysis is required. ;)

Thank you, that means a lot ^///^ I wish I could offer some insight but it's often hardest to analyze by those closest to it. Sometimes the art even takes a direction of its own - like that sad werewolf one I just posted - that the artist doesn't intend. I just try to go with the flow, and let the art evolve on its own as it is being created ;) And if people say it turned out well, then it's a success!
Slowly making my way to the present, not to worry. I enjoy submissions with lengthy descriptions; it just takes me some time to get through them all.
I intend to perform a separate analysis for that submission as well. Evolving art? Are you hinting at some theory of art evolution taking place within a single piece? Hmm, I wonder if there is some sort of natural art selection happening as well; survival of the fittest features... *scribbles notes*:P
