Reminds me of a story I was told by a Vietnam Vet back when I worked in Defense. He was telling a story how he was sitting around in the officers club at an airbase during the war and a new WSO (This is the guy who sits in the back seat of an F-4) is asking another WSO about a pilot. And the second WSO said 'I've taken off with him six times', when asked about the pilot. The first WSO asked about him several times more and the second said the same thing each time and nothing else.
Finally the first WSO gets the point and asks the second one 'How many times have you landed with him'? To which the second WSO replied 'Never'.
True story, pilot had been shot down or crashed that many times.
