It's not very heavy -- It's filled out with packing peanuts. They were the only thing I could find that was light enough for the job. The weight of the fur is the biggest part of the weight.

OK, but it seems like there is enough interest that I may create a full post with a diagram and everything.

In short it has a band of steel that goes down from my waist to my coccyx, makes a U-turn to be the base of the tail, and then up about a foot (in the center of the tail). Then two bundles of #9 wire extend up from that to support the upper part of the tail.

The fabric part of the tail has 3 layers. The middle layer is cotton fabric with coat-hanger wire attached to it to provide support. The top and bottom layers are the fur. Then the spaces between the layers is stuffed with the foam packing peanuts. I stitched a line down the middle of the top layer so that it would have that "Pepe la Pew" part.

Of a sort, yes. It has two "spines" so that the tail doesn't spin on itself. And the coat hanger wires go crossways so it doesn't droop.

The boots are a bit limiting, but since they ARE boots, they reinforce your ankles and make it a lot easier to place your feet, even though they have 5 inch heels.
I also have a set of platform shoes with 5 inch heels. I almost never wear them for anything but pictures because they are both uncomfortable and unstable.

Hmm.. maybe i should try boots? They might actually be better on my ankles and feet.

If you have trouble with turning your ankle, then yes, try some stiff tight fitting boots. Something like cowboy boots or workers boots.

As much time as i spend on my feet and as fatigued as they get, i might have to look into something like that.

So long as you can manage them, that's the important thing. And hey, Samantha looks good in them. ;)
