I've run into a few characters now that have sentient tails. It's one of the more interesting designs for a character and I always think a lot about how they'd interact. I imagine they'd end up fighting a lot, haha. Anyway, meet Red and Auron, a dragon and a snake who happen to share the same body. I'm not exactly sure what their history is together, but I had a great time drawing them!
I went for a "walking towards the viewer" pose with some harsh white lighting, and tried doing the entire image in black and white before adding color on top. A very interesting technique, something I'm going to have to try again! It makes lighting so much easier, but then getting the right colors becomes a challenge... hmm, experimenting. :)
