I've always been a fan of soul-vore, from years before it found it's way onto the internet. The finality of having your very essence gobbled up and consumed forever, has an odd appeal. So, when Omega was taking some commissions last year, I used that opportunity to finally delve into those desires and this is what he came up with.
I like the idea of the predator being a creature designed for devouring souls, rather than just a normal character who happens to have that ability. Not that there's anything wrong with that... but sometimes it's nice to imagine creatures who fill specific niches like this.
Thanks to Omega for doing such a great job on this. The lucky rat would certainly thank you as well... if he could. :)

I like soul vore too, but I've always thought there's lots of untapped potential for the idea. Stuff I haven't seen anyone draw or write about. Like, the soul must have a lot of energy. It might take a loooong time to be devoured. Maybe years. And if the soul is truly immortal, that means the one having been consumed would remain in a perpetual state of digestion forever... :9
Heh. As I've said to others who I've talked to about soul vore, what fascinates me the most is just about everyone I've met sees soul vore in a slightly different way. I've met some who do hold their captive souls inside forever, some who take in the soul whole and digests it like one would normal food, and some who bite off parts of a soul as if it were flesh... to name just a few of those. It's a lot of fun to see how others view soul vore.
Yay for more soul vore, I've always loved the concept ever since I discovered it so many years ago^^ I usually write short stories or roleplay about it though, not too good at drawing yet sadly.
What I like about soul vore is the finality of it, once a soul is eaten and digested, I fell it should be gone forever and ever, no reforming even^^ And having said that, I am a prey and I love the idea of a pred seeking to devour my soul <3

Heh. Yep. I'm the same way. Soul vore is the end of existence for a character.
For artwork, I'll have the same character being used in different soul vore encounters, sort of as a 'what if' type of situation. But for RPing, I've had numerous characters I've retired because they've been soul vored.
There's just something about it that I find so appealing and desirable as prey, despite knowing there will be no returning from it. It's the ultimate sacrifice one can make to a predator. <3

Hmm retire characters you say? I can't say I've ever made any characters of my own yet, kinda always RPed as myself when in vore situations^^ But the thought sound really appealing, once a characters soul is taken, there truly is no survival^^
I forgot to mention that I do play as both pred and prey in roleplays, but I highly prefer being prey. I really enjoy the idea of willing soul vore, the prey knowing that should his/her soul be digested, then they will cease to exist forever, and still they go willingly! But forcefully soulvore has its charms too of course. Especially if its a pred who is designed around devouring souls, like mentioned in this picture hehe.

I love the idea of falling onto the leaf of one and it closing around me, and secreting an enzyme that saps the prey's soul right from their body before it's absorbed!
Another thing in nature that has Soul Vore potential would be leeches. Imagine a transparent leech that latches on and sucks out just a piece of your soul, and you could even see the soul glowing inside of it. One leech would be more or less harmless - you could recover in about a day. But if you got attacked by a swarm of them, each would suck out separate pieces of your entire soul, effectively destroying it, before digesting the pieces they each took.

Hehe. Then you would love
Tacokurt's bog leeches.
It's not so much soul vore, as them slowly draining the energy of their prey, but close enough. ;)
