My first attempt at an Avian.
And don't ask me where the idea comes from! All I knew was that I wanted to try drawing a crow and I knew I had to have it in a different pose other than "Oh hai, I'm a crow". So this is what came out.
I wanted something dark and gritty, so I pulled out a piece of charcoal I had lying around. Words of advice: 1 - Choose something other than charcoal if you want more details than just smudges! (At least in my case X3 )
2 - You WILL get graphite all over your fingers, and inevitably smudge EVERYTHING.

Daw, poor little birdie. Doesn't it make all you bird owners just feel terrible? Just kidding, just kidding! Lol.
