I love night time, its dark, they put adult comedies and show on TV, and people from America are online. Roll on Nightmare moon! you have my support.
This is the Nightmare Moon brush-able pony from Hasbro's unique set, a Toys R Us exclusive called 'Fan Favorites'
So! Lets review her:
Style: She looks GORGEOUS, for those of your without eyes that cannot see the beauty above. She's near enough 90% show accurate, the hair should consist of shadows, but I suppose Nylon brush able fibers will have to suffice.
Paint: Unlike other G4 ponies, Nightmare Moon is covered in exquisite and detailed paint decals. The 'helmet' of her head and shoes on her hooves are a brilliant cerulean blue, nearly perfectly painted too, nice and straight making for a bold figure. Her cutie mark is very nice too, but Hasbro are still refusing to do one on each flank, so her arse is purple on the other side.
Price: I got this set for $35 or £21, plus $5 for shipping to the UK from Toys R Us http://www.toysrus.com/product/inde.....uctId=12885979 (just had to wait a few weeks, but it was well worth it) In the set you get 6 small ponies plus the larger nightmare moon (others being Trixie, DJ P0N3, Lemony Gem, Lily, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie) if you divide £21 by 6 for the basic ones alone (a basic pony costing £5 here) you're already getting a bargain, and giving away such a stunning one such as Nightmare is the biggest bonus EVER. You do the math.
Overall? 10/10, If you like collecting ANY G4 ponies, you need Nightmare Moon and the other fan faves in your collection NOAW

Elementary, my dear Immelmann. I tend to just wash their manes in warm water first, applying a bit of conditioner to massage in, then using a toothbrush to brushie them out nice and straight. I then try and hold the hair in the position I want, for rarity I coiled it around a pencil as I used a low setting hair dryer to dry it out a bit. When it was dry I'd use my hair straighteners on the lowest setting (seriously, its playing with fire here) and very VERY gently went over her mane, curling it around with some skill and luck, to get that Rarity curl going on. No wishy washy 24 hour bullshit other tutorials say, Just wash, conditioner, dry and lightly straighten the hair, it leaves you with a nice (but not 100% show accurate, I might add) but passable style, a massive improvement from the mess that usually comes out of the box.
DISCLAIMER: Redflare500 is not accountable if you barbecue your rarity into a molten marshmallow using hair straighteners.

There are a wonderful series of guides by Countschlick of DA that cover all six main characters. They are mainly done on smaller toys, but they can be done on bigger ones if you use larger objects to hold the hair curls.
Here's the gallery for the guides: Pony Hair Tutorials. (Pinkie Pie's can be found here: Pinkie Pie Hair Tutorial.)
In addition, the last pictures at the end of those tutorials serve as pretty good 3D references for drawing their manes at different angles.
The best of luck to you! Pinkie Pie's mane is especially difficult to style.
