to your comment above me
i think im pretty fast (2days-2weeks), for the quality im very cheap ($3-$25), and i havent had a upset customer yet. i actually have a lot of repeat customers! now when i have to go to the hospital i always tell the commissioner because it adds a week to their time, but im usually good about getting things done :3
i think some artists just take more than they can handle all at one time D:
ive come across that with some people ive commissioned u.u
im still waiting for a coloured sketch from someone and its been like four months

yeah thats ridiculous u.u
i think the longest anyone has ever waited on art from me was three months @@
but that was cause my roof caved in and i had to wait to buy a new laptop
i really dont get some artists making people wait almost a year for a piece of art
what pisses me off is when they post like adoptables and junk when they should be posting their commissions

The worst artists are the ones who appear to have this teeny circle of friends and apparently swap gift art amongst themselves all the time. There's one in particular whom I'm told is led around by the nose by their "mate," who if the whim strikes will get art done the moment they ask, at actual paying commissioners' expense.
I won't name names, but it's a pretty big one.

Well, it's not like I don't enjoy the art, but I wouldn't be caught dead commissioning them, lol. It's just a little depressing how some artists seem to let their popufur status go to their heads. Or they were just apparently dicks in the first place.
*coughNaylorcough*
But yeah, a little time and you can usually tell whether this is an issue or not. I try not to dwell too long on it, it just gets ya down.

Well, what I meant is you watch their commission status, see their turnaround time, compare it with their pricing and quality and such. Also whether they seem to be friendly, chat with their fans on their page, post journals that aren't just "commission open" pieces...
Although some artists are busy with RL and school, I'll give them that. But like I said you can usually tell the difference.
Also, if they post a lot of art starring one or two people only, whether they're a commission whore or not that's a big red flag.

I dunno, don't quote me as an authority or anything, I'm only putting my two cents in. And I guess I shouldn't be dissing others behind their backs, either. It's a bad habit. But I understand your frustration. Just don't dwell on it, don't let it get you down. I guess the best thing to do is what you said: simply un-watch them and forget about the whole thing ASAP.
In a change of subject, I hope you're well!

For the most part I have had good results from commissions.. mostly though who do it through livestream. We my que is up my art is done that night. Though I will have to say there are artist I like to commission but they have very random quick filled ques that I can't never find. To this day I stake Naynors and one other FA page hoping to find a place.
hmm well I do take a couple of months or weeksdepending on how swamped I am ^^;
the 60chars orgy as been on the works for almost a year but well 60 chars in traditional art aint an easy thing X3
Idunno what to say bout my prices tho, but my commissioners always wants to come back for more o.o

I won a commission from someone months ago. I paid extra money to make it more for my fitting. A few times they contacted me checking on some things. But I haven't heard from them for months. I think they just forgotten about me completely. Bah, whatever. I don't care much anymore. If it comes up eventually. Great but. I wouln't be in a rush to commision them again.
When I commissioned you, you did a good job I reckon. Although I don't remember how long it took. But I liked what I got (hell I remember the one I just said I wish I saw a male blaziken and damn you just did it without asking for a fee. I don't try to make that happen ever as it reins bad on my conscience).
On a final note, the best commission I got was when the person would frequently ask me questions about shape, detail, how it should look and took it step by step. They pretty much remained in contact with me checking on progress to make sure they did it right. I paid $25 and got a beautiful picture from it and man. I honestly feel like I should pay them extra. Some people are just dedicated and not as busy. Just the popular ones keep getting people hounding them. It also probably helped me more because I knew them before I commissioned. Mm.
