It's tempting for anyone to aggrandize themselves or their characters- pump them up and make them infallible badasses. You engage in roleplay or improv, and the temptation is to say "Oh, you could TRY, but that wouldn't work on MY character! For he/she is far too wonderful for THAT to work!"

...hmm...okay, how long did you stare into the pit of eternal knowledge Dr Fenris? 'cause your just...umm..let's see here what phrase I'm looking for *flips through a Rollodex* ah, here we are, "Bat-shit crazy"...and very very smart too so the pit of eternal knowledge must be the answer...seeing as one can only glimpse into the pool for about three seconds before they are driven insane by the sheer amount of awesomeness and knowledge.
Yeah, I had a heavy-armor, hacky-slashy character to start with... Did that, beat the game with that, then decided I wanted to try a sneakier, light-armor character with a bow.
