One of the many pretties I got today. This big boy is my new pronghorn skull, my first complete horned/antlered animal in my collection. Sure, I have skull caps and antlers. But this is my first complete one.
He's beautifuly cleaned and provided by Zhon. He's surprisingly heavy, and a little difficult to get him to "sit still" on the shelf as the weight of those huge horns makes him want to rock backwards and off his mandble. So its difficult to get it upright. It'll probably end up being carefully wired to be a wall hanger to save on shelf space, and properly display him. I'll have to figure out a way to angle it so I don't end up gouging myself on those antlers/horns.
Fun note! Pronghorns aren't concidered antelopes! They belong to the family Antilocapridae!
