Zorori is the Boke and Gaon is the Tsukkomi. Excuse the vernacular, but also Gaon fits a kind of tsundere archetype, the blond royal who is above others, cool, blue blooded and intelligent, and rarely shows his true self. Arguably speaking the only person who could do that is Zorori, Zorori is able to get under his skin to the point where he loses composure, and as such loses a brick in his mental wall. He does admire Zorori, sometimes more than a rival. They connect on a level that doesn't seem to stop at just companionship.

At the same time, Zorori does hold Gaon in some special place, if not outright 'love' per say. Arguably speaking, Zorori doesn't really act any different towards Gaon than say other people, although it does seem like there's a deep rooted respect and familiarity that doesn't seem to show against other characters he's shipped with.

The point is their personalities play off against each other, and they're more invested in their rapport than other characters.
