This is West, he is a scruffy black wolf, thats pretty much it for the basics.
More in depth into West:
West is a smart ass sarcastic young adult male wolf who doesn't think highly of himself and still acts like a teenager a majority of the time around his mate and friends, pulling off pranks, cracking wise ass remarks, and knowing what to say at the just the wrong moment he pretty much strives to be the comic relief. Around others though he is the strong silent type only saying just enough especially when getting to know others, this usually leads him to have few friends then most but to those he is friends with the bond is tight and he stands by them through anything.
He spends most of his time along side Spirit, she is his mate, best friend, partner in mischief, and bro. While being the stereotypical mated pair they also she also joins him in the fun and have been highly known to high four and bump paws together. She is so more than a mate to him, while bringing out the best of him and giving him a reason to stand true and strong she also keeps him from his self-destructive personality.
West is his own worst enemy. While trying to stay to his virtues he has a nature and a list of bad habits and a few vice's. Though he is reckless on a normal day that is an understatement when he doesn't have some one to keep him inline. Fighting is another big issue, his thickheadedness, sarcasm, piss poor choices of picking his battles, and never knowing when to stop will usually get him into deep shit. With out Spirit's intervention he would probably end up dead...
He doesn't judge others on species, race, creed, views or orientations and tries to keep an open mind but he does have his lines. He also chooses who he hangs around with staying away from junkies, punks and other in that general association.

I had no problem, but I'm also a rocket scientist
Nah, good class to get, plus I worked call, so I could not justify going medic unless I went full time (Nowhere near the call volume at my department to keep up skills). The system I worked (still do very part time) in (NH) was very liberal with I's (We have ntg, CPAP, IO (arrests), glucagon, etc), and for 90% of calls you don't need more. The rest would be cardiac, CHF and pain management, but an I can take those until we can intercept. It will come down to what your area runs and allows. In NH, I's were very common and most paid 911 ran I/P, while in Atlanta, where I am now, it seems that most 911 is B/P (Would have been nice to go per-diem for extra cash but school hurt). If you won't be able to act as an intermediate while you go for the disco patch, the utility is diminished.
As for the class itself, the school that taught mine went beyond the DOT curriculum, including more cardiac, more A&P, more meds, etc than what is required.
I personally like the idea of having time as an I under the belt before one goes to medic, that way you have the mechanics of IV, IO, etc down and can focus on meds, differential diagnoses (well, a greater number of them) and rhythms.
And I had actually been looking at going into federal law enforcement as a kid and teen, but my family has some bad history with that career path and the stress it brings.

That's the odd thing. 99% of me has no problem with a busy day (My arms got pissed off after three codes in 18 hrs), but when I spend 12-18 hrs each day fighting with a computer to get a program to work, it drives me nuts. Plus I'm only paid for 10 hrs/week of work, required to work 20 and usually hitting 40+ (I essentially made half of min wage). Will be nice when I start in January at a 40/wk job.
