Ok, first off the thumbnail pic is by: flatliner, 2007 Colour photograph, lambda print, 100 x 70 cm. Found it on a google image search.
That taken care of, here's some info on the following poem. My husband and I are very different, and sometimes our fights lead to serious thoughts (usually not out loud) of divorce. We both do not think we ever really will though, as we also believe we are soulmates, and have been for quite some ages. We just don't have it so smoothly this time around. And, just to answer it ahead of time, for those of you who may be wondering and ask, we do not believe that just because you are someone's soulmate, that things will be all hunkydory and smooth sailing. It just means you have chosen to follow eachother through the lifetimes to be with eachother, cause your love transcends any petty bullshit you may experience in one messed up lifetime.
In any case, here's the poem, written after one such argument.
Flatlined
The doctor revives it once more
And it returns to its erratic rhythm.
The young couple holding each other near the bed
Look on with decreasing hope.
The monitor screams its high steady tone
And he struggles once more to revive it.
The young couple let go of each other and part ways
As the doctor shakes his head in answer.
Through the ceaseless scream of the monitor
Another failed relationship wails its despair one last time.
