Everybody be quiet. Nilo is sleeping.
This is the first of a kinda mini-series I doodled about a month and a half ago, and I kinda like how it turned out. Especially the drool.

If I had an actual design concept for Nilo when I started drawing him, it would have stated that the tail should look more natural on him than his legs. It would also say that it's not too dextrous, and really just there for balance and swimming, so it would kinda get in the way. But yeah, in some pictures his tail almost seems like an afterthought, but mostly I try to make sure you know it's supposed to be there.
Also, I like tails... When they're not accessories.

A super-long prehensile and dextrous tail would be nice, but I just like them meaty. And I may draw you again someday.
Lately I've been in a kinda creative funk and have tried drawing other random things instead. The good one's will be posted here, like Mixtli (the Axolotl) and Kadi (maybe coming soon) but the bad ones disappear.

The "bad ones" are so bad I think they'd ruin the scanner I use. No one should want to see what I reject. I do my own quality control. Also, when I first sketch anything, its on actual scraps, then if it's good enough, it goes onto full sheets of paper. The "bad ones" never leave the napkins/envelopes/post-its/subscription cards that they are conceived on. lol
