I think your missunderstanding the word..
A DJ just mixes togeather music for people to dance to. And as such he dident make any off the music, he just made finised songs run over each other..
Im not saying how ever that i dont like DJ´s, becase they are really good at what they do, but they arent artists..
Now if your not just playing songs over each other but, actualy making new music, not just adding a little base to a song to make a "dj remix"
Then you are what i think they call a mixer, and as such you are a artists...
But to get down to my first point, what i dident like is people who act like they are something, just becase they are a DJ, calling them self artists, and i find that offensive to the peoples music they are playing.

Tiësto, Ferry Corsten, Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta, Paul Van Dyk, Above and Beyond, Flash Brothers, Benassi Bros, all fabulous artists--all fabulous DJs. Tiësto won a Grammy I believe for his original song Elements of Life--and also won Best Global DJ at the IDMA awards, just one of four prestigious awards that he won. I had the privelige of attending one of his concerts.
Hey, someone has to make the music, and what these artists do is more than play their own stuff. That would make for a (relatively) boring set.

Again that is there own music, they dont get artistic credit for taking a allready made music number and put them on a playlist and make it run with no holes.
The Dj´s im talking about are the dj´s who stand on the same club week after week, never playing anything homemade..
And just becase you call your self DJ in your name, dosent mean you cant be more then that..
The artist you mention, are artist becase they can make something them selves from scratch, not becase they are DJ´s

XP My point was that they are both artists AND DJs. They do play their own songs and remixes, but they play songs from other artists as well--and it's definitely a lot more than just standing there and "making it run with no holes." It takes planning, skill, creativity, and technical knowledge to blend two totally different songs together like that, figuring out in the process how to mix them in a way that will excite the crowd.
And nowhere on FA have I ever called myself a DJ.
The artists I mentioned do make music from scratch--but they play that music in their sets, usually among songs from various other artists. For instance, if you were to look it up, you'd find that various artists play the hit song Radio Crash by Ferry Corsten in their sets, even though they produce their own music.
In short, astists are DJs too. DJing, working around that music, is one of the first steps toward artistry. You'll find that that's how all the electronica artists started, from Basshunter to Tiësto.

well i think we need to stop this discussion, especialy in a comment field.
So if you must then write a pm to me, but i think it would be stupid to continue, i just think we will have to agree to disagree.. Becase i still dont see a dj as a artist, becase playing songs on a playlist making them mix in over one anther isent artistic enough
