This is sort of a "what if my character was in a non-existent video game" idea,
I took
kirydoss character Kiry (-HERE-) and made him a creature idea for a Sci-Fi FPS.
The idea behind him was that he was sort of amphibious in the way that Crabs or other Crustaceans are, and also that he was geared to hunt on shores. Sporting an exoskeleton with extremely hard spines, the creature would come out of the water, run up to slower prey (I'd say humanoids being a good meal choice), and bodyslam them. If the tackle only resulted in stunning their prey, they'd hold them down with the opposable spines on the sides of their torso and slam their chest down into the creature until it stopped moving, breathing or otherwise.
As there is likely other shelled creatures, and bones being what they are, the creature has a second mouth, a beak(well, rather, multiple beaks) in which it crushes it's food further into digestable chunks.
I'd imagine the "takle and crush" tactic in a First Person Shooter is pretty panic facey, especially if there doesn't seem to be anything visible on the shore or poking out of the water. Eeep!
