Partnership
A birthday gift for
reptilecynrik featuring two heroes of Aktes, "Reptile Cynrik" and "Kyle Primor". During the battle, the partners are confronting the invading horde of barbarians called, "Khans", so they prepare with their arms and finish everyone who demands to destroy their home.
This artwork is based on ReptileCynik's story.
Kyle Primor is my first time drawing a human character created by another artist/author.
Happy birthday, Patrick! *hugs* (At least it's not my "wing hug" for you anymore. XP)

My my, the sky has a beautiful view, that´s one of the best things that you always offered in illustrations, that´s for sure. Which it´s very ironic, you drew the thing you have more skills (the views) and the thing you lack in practice (human)
I´m not saying that it looks bad or anything like that, this is indeed really rare from you to show humans, but I guess that´s because you wanted to give to Patrick a good surprise (not to mentioned that in some previews comments he asked you to try with humans to make things more interestings ^ ^º). But hey, at least you took the risk to draw one, and I´m indeed proud to give it a try ^ ^
Even if you don´t like to draw humans a lot, you should give some tries and improve them. But well, I guess this things is what they call "one per year" or something like that ^ ^º.
Anyway, I think that´s a nice detail from you to him.

Thanks very much for this gift, Kevin!
Despite the fact that this artwork here is a birthday gift, I’m sure you expect (or at least appreciate) a rather detailed ARTWORK CRITIQUE. I could also write a very small text, too… but that’s not my style. I don’t like just “Thanks for the artwork and bye” comments!!
So, that’s why you’ll get a text about my thoughts right now. ^___^
IMPORTANT:
You don’t have to fear this critique… it’s not meant to destroy your work or efforts. No way! I truly appreciate your artwork and your sweet gift. Though I believe that you should get a critique, which may help you for future projects. After all, I still hope you will increase your skills in the future… and people should write you helpful comments, which you can use for upcoming works.
Here it comes!
Some aspects about “Reptile”:
Since you’ve drawn “Reptile” before and since a Reptilian creature is not really a problem to you, I’ll make this brief.
Anyway, it’s been a long time that you drew a “Reptile”… and I really couldn’t tell if you would give him a “buff” body or a rather “slim” body. You know, I have changed my own character a few times, but never so much that somebody would NOT recognize him. ^^”
Nevermind.
Soooooooo… this is a new “Reptile” drawn by you today! ^^
This is the first new "Reptile" in his latest "battle armor" and most of the armor is really well done. Also, his fighting stance is quite okay and he looks strong and cool.
Still, I have to point out a few anatomical issues... most of all, his right leg (which is horribly broken)! If we can see his right calf and the sole of his foot... it is really impossible, that we can see his torso from the front (!), as well. See, we can look at his belt... and his belly, but we can also see his calf. No, his leg is twisted and broken, ouch!!!! XD
Some issues about his arms, too... but that would go too far.
Some aspects about “Kyle”:
Obviously, this is your first “real” human drawing… because I really cannot count in the “Mega Man” characters (they are all robots somehow, so they are no real humans to me). Yes, this “Kyle” here may be your first officially posted drawing of a human – even if he derives from a fantasy universe, of course.
Nevertheless, you’ve tried your skills on a human this time and I’d like to write a few things about him. ^^
Like I said, it's cool that you tried a HUMAN and a HUMAN FACE for a change. Still, his face looks very, very cold and is avoid of expression. He looks like a face carved in stone... quite cold. But like I said, it's your first serious human face. Keep trying!
His anatomy isn't quite correct, either and the blade of his sword (wrong shape!!) should be moved to the left side (look at his left hand)... nevermind.
Some other aspects:
I still suggest you to try to use your tablet (or any other drawing tool… but NO mouse!!) for your line art. Your lines still look so… static… they are avoid of “life” and they are less dynamic. Of course, I know that you’ve almost perfected this line art style of yours… but you will NEVER grow beyond this style, if you don’t start using a more professional tool.
This is the last time I’ll ever write this to you!
Very important: perspective!
Look at "Reptile's" weapon, the "Dragonclaw"... it is a pole-arm weapon... a staff!
This thing is made of a large staff of steel.
A staff is round.
But if you take a look at the wrappings, you can see that the perspective is really brokenhere. Furthermore, you cannot (!!!!) use a linear shading for the metal, if you have a ROUND (!) object. This simply does not work!
Like I said before:
The critique and pointers are to help you, NOT to turn down your gift.
I really appreciate this. And the comment should sharpen your eyes for later projects!
^___^
THANKS again!!!

You're welcome
I know I expect for the comment from your thoughts when it's a special artwork just for you. If you say I "fear" of critiques, then they may possibly have some backlashes, yells, failure disappointments or unethical statements. But at least I'm okay with it because you appreciate your birthday gift. ^^
Well, Reptile is still okay for me, even his "Battle Armor" design. However, you said about his right leg, huh? I cannot find the references for his pose, as we look at his right leg behind the left one, bending to take a step.
Maybe his right feet should have turned clockwise, showing his sole, to correct it.
I take many, many edits to draw "Kyle Primor" as the first human drawing. The only part is the human head. My version of Kyle needs to match with your version from your artworks. If not, then he's not "Kyle" at all, because the face or head will be too far! It needs more practice by copying cartoon characters and portaits. But, I only do this rarely since I have many projects like original artworks (Hotara, Skaro, Agamid, Targon, King Corus, etc.)
Question: What do you expect from me? Draw more humans than reptiles?
Tablet is good, then. Frankly, I should use a lot of "Undo's" if the lines that I'm drawing with pen is messy, crooked, lagged (jumped response) or it makes disturbing extra lines.
I'll take your aspect about Dragonclaw's perspective. These straight linear (perpendicular) shadings make it look like a "sword"
You're welcome again, and thank you for the critique ^..^
*hugs more*

We can clearly look at Reptile's right calf... AND we can see his front, which is not possible at the same time. How can I look at the back of a leg AND at the front of person at the same time... except I break and twist his leg! -..-"
You're version of Kyle is more or less a "MEGA MAN" body. His appearance is out of proportion - he has "anime children" proportions. Well, since you've only drawn "MEGA MAN" so far... I was expecting this. :-P
About your question:
I don't expect anything of you... but I STRONGLY suggest you draw MUCH MORE humans!! I would find it really, REALLY interesting, if there would be at least (!) one human left in your world. He/She could be the last of his kind, if you don't want to draw more humans. Just like the movie "I Am Legend" (with Will Smith): he was the only human left in a world of zombies and vampires. XD
Anyway, if you had some humans, you can think about maaaany differnent and NEW stories... and it would be MUCH MORE appearling to an audience, which DOES NOT prefer anthros!!!
Didn't you ever think of THIS?
Furthermore... your "dream" about publishing a novel or any story... I can tell you: you will fail. You will NOT have any change, if there are NO humans in your world. Believe me. I know it. I've made this experience myself, while talking to real publishers!
Use tablet!
Get into it!!
