Much older (and rougher) than the Mykor'i pic from before, I've been working on this character and concept for so long offline that it never occurred to me that I was pretty much the only one who knew about her. This is some rough design work for a character based on the original Captain Marvel.
Long-timers here might remember a journal I posted a year or two back with my idea for a way of bringing Billy Batson back to the mantle of "Captain Marvel" despite the rampant mistreatment of him and his sister Mary by DC Comics, particularly in recent years. The idea was a riff on the "Trials of Shazam" story which made Freddy Freeman the new Cap, only, in this case, Billy would travel the globe and gain the blessings/powers of six new gods and legends to become a new Captain Marvel. At the time, it was suggested by a few people to "file the serial numbers off" and make this the origin of a wholly original character (the Free Universe forums suggestion of using the public domain character "Captain Wizard" had particular potential, actually), but since the concept was so "Marvel Family" it wasn't a feasible idea.
So I went a different route instead.
This is Billie Freeman, daughter of Freddie and Mary Freeman, aka "Captain Marvel Jr." and "Mary Marvel," and niece of Billy Batson (who is also her namesake). In her timeline, the Marvel Family grew older, with Freddie and Mary eventually falling in love and marrying. However, shortly after Billie was born, the Marvels were called away on a mission by the wizard Shazam...and vanished.
With agents of their enemies attacking both the Rock of Eternity and the Freemans' home, Billie was taken into hiding by Uncle Dudley and his daughter, Freckles, long-time allies of the Marvels, who raised her in secret. Years went by, and Billie grew up as headstrong as her father, as loving as her mother, and as courageous and resourceful as her uncle. One night she is visited by the goddess Athena who (as in the original "Billy's Quest" story pitch I did) sets Billie on a quest to gather the blessings of a new pantheon of legendaries in order to become a brand-new Captain Marvel, in the process drawing the attention of her family's old enemies and a new iteration of her father's nemesis, Sabbac.
While I tried to incorporate elements of all three Marvels into Billie's hero design, she sadly looks more like Power Girl than Captain Marvel. Still, it's a start, and I wanted to share her with you all so you'd know that, even if I don't post online, it doesn't mean I'm COMPLETELY inert.

Invariably, when someone tries to "rework" the Captain Marvel idea, whether as a basis for an original character or specifically as a Marvel obtaining aid from other supernaturals, it seems they tend to flub on the key part of the formula - the identities and bestowed gifts of pantheon itself.
They just can never seem to get the right names and powers, like they think up the new "SHAZAM" and kludge together names as a backronym to fit it.
So... what's Billie working with here?

Gee, no pressure... Remember, this is still WAY rough, in concept as well as design:
Suzanoo, Japanese god of storms (primarily for the thunderbolt)
Hermes, Greek messenger god (for speed and flight)
Anansi, African god of stories (for cunning)
Zarathustra, ancient philosopher and father of modern magic (for wisdom)
Athena, Greek goddess of war (courage and fighting skill)
Marduk, Babylonian arch-diety (strength and invulnerability...might, basically)
So yeah...basically a kludged together backronym.
