An alternate reason is of course Santa did! He needs someone to pull his sleigh and they all traditionally have antlers, so if he's using a white-tail as a replacement, he needs a male. Of course, Michael will take full advantage of the position seeing as how all the reindeer are female, since male reindeer shed their antlers before Christmas normally and Santa's reindeer always have antlers. Or something along those lines.

I did too, but recently I was made aware of the actual anatomy and whatnot of reindeer. Apparently females do too. And actually checking it up on wikipedia, I find it is the the old males that lose theirs in December. Apparently young males can still have theirs until spring, and females shed theirs in summer. So I suppose it could just as easily be a mix of genders or all young bucks. But yes, both genders of reindeer have antlers.
