One of my friends wanted me to make him a bat character, so i of course asked all the details and he gave me some good reference pics for the clothes and hairstyle, he wanted the set of arms and set of wings otherwise i woulda just done arms that function as wings too lol but anyway, this is Utarefson the Vampire Bat (he let me pick what kind i just wanted to draw a vamp bats cute nose XD) I gave him a sword cus he needed something n his hand lol and the crates are there cus he needed to be sitting on something rather than floating randomly in this air XD
His outfit was a bitch and half to draw by the way lol but I totally <3 how his boots came out, they're the only part of the pic i like overly much lol Oh yeah and yes his legs are meant to be rather long, he's a tall lanky guy lol
Utarefson belongs to Justin Brenneman AKA Skrae Nocturen (though I decided how he looked partly too)
Art and boxes and sword belong to me XDDD

nice. I can imagine them clothes giving you grief. :) the boots look virtually kick ass. I don't want them up mine, sotosay. :)
the arm poses look a bit stiff; you should experiment more with that. and the neck is too narrow to support the head. it should have more "flesh" to the left side, I think.
I hope such critics help you a bit. giving them can be tricky, especially if the given piece is already finished; but at least you can always correct a digital piece.

Thank you ^_^ i can always sue some helpful advice lol
I tried to make the arms look less stiff, but that seemed the best i could get them at the time, I'll have to get more practice on that. As for his neck, yeah it could use some thickening, i was putting so much effort into the details of everything in his clothing that i messed up a few bits on him lol, for example im not pleased at all with his wings lol

ah, I see.
If I had a graphic tablet I could go and do some redlines on your prelim sketch; it's too late to change much now, but one can still learn.
I don't know how you do your sketches, but if you don't go and finish the lines of the body before you layer clothes over it, maybe you should try. it will at least prevent you from making detail mistakes like joints on the wrong place, or a thin neck.
as for the wings, remember that they are built like an arm with a hand on it, just with different proportions. the count of fingers depend on species and such, but essentially even a bird's wings are nothing but arms.
this means, there are muscles, and the fingers have joints.best you look for pictures of bat's skeletons online; wings are not that difficult.
*scritch* I would go into more details, but I always fear the receiving end would feel like bashed or something... :)

I've only recently started drawing out the body before putting the clothes on, so I'm still getting used to it, and learning how to make the body look right still once the clothes have been added too, cus sometimes the body looks a little odd after i add the clothes in certain places, but thats mostly cus i'm not that great at drawing clothing and how it fits on bodies so i've got a lot to learn still ^_^
Generally I draw wings better than i did this time, this time i honestly was getting lazy after all the detail i had put into the rest of it lol but still, they could be worse lol I do need more practice at wings anyway though and I fully intend to get more practice.
No worries I don't mind some good critiquing, as long as someone isn't just saying "this sucks" and is actually giving valid advice then it doesn't bother me, it helps sometimes to get advice from people on how to make things look better, even if you can't fix the picture they're talking about you can at least try and avoid making the same mistake again
