A huuuge commission for 
who decided to go ALL OUT. xD I very rarely get commissioned for full background pieces with full shades, mostly because they are a little taxing. I spend a looot of energy on the backgrounds, but learn something new each time.
This was a pretty big challenge mainly because I couldn't reference directly off photos, which usually helps, so some things may be off.
I am pretty happy with the result however c: (mainly the wood texture, HEE. <3)
As for the scenario, it seems Tai has agreed to go through a stroll with Pareon, Jiyu's character, in a lovely snowy forest to enjoy the scenery. Unfortunately the poor kitten chose leggings and a pair of cute shorts instead of warm jeans and has gotten all cold. Pareon, however, seems to have just the idea to warm him right up~
Tai isn't against it at all...but he is awfully shy and nervous. x3~<3

I'm gonna be honest, the characters themselves are lovely and well done... but it was the background that sold me on this. I can see why it would be such a trying chore to get it in full detail and shade, but honestly I think it paid off. Obviously the foreground is what grabs the attention, but the background is, in my own opinion, the real highlight of this piece.
Have you ever considered doing a landscape piece? I know characters are your specialty, but I think with how good you've done on this background you could create something marvelous without relying on characters to help draw the eye.

If I can find that free time. xD Lately doing commissions pretty much saps most of my creative drive, not to mention I simply can't draw or sit at a computer for too long.
I really want to just snag images off google and paint them since I'm not too confident in my landscape composition.........at all lol orz.
If people commissioned me JUST so I could work on backgrounds I'd flip. xD
