Hey, Hey! We're The Prairees!
People say we Chiken out!
But we're too busy singin'
to call anybody louts!
The Prairees full band name is "The Prairee Chikenz" and they are my anthro Monkees tribute band. The name is based on Mike's running joke of inserting "Save the Texas Prairie Chicken!" The Prairee's have adopted a prairie chicken as their band mascot.
Offstage, each band member is their own furson, complete with quirky personality traits and rocky histories. Onstage, they have the same mannerisms as their chosen Monkee, they wear costumes from throughout the Monkees career and perform all of the Monkees best songs in front of millions of music-lovers.

I have most of thier albums on both vinyl re-issue (also a couple originals), and CD. Pool It! should have gone further than it did. It was mostly a Mickey Dolenz effort, but still has some good songs on it, including Peter Tork's excellent "Gettin' In" which my Monkee hating dad fell in love with. He likes them more now because of that one song.
Peters solo album called "Stranger Things Have Happened" was like a continuation of his "Pool It!" songs, the album also has "Gettin' In" on it. He did covers of "Higher and Higher" and "Take a Giant Step" too.

I'm not familiar with his recent work with the Shoe Suede Blues band, but I believe they were still touring before the Monkees reunited this year for their tour.

The Prairees are a tribute band, which means that they make public appearances dressed as the Monkees, they act like the Monkees, and they perform music of the Monkees that highlights important moments during their career, as a tribute. I'm sure that a few of the band members may compose things in his spare time, but they wouldn't show up during a Prairees concert. :)
