This piece came about when I saw the (mostly regrettable) movie: AI-Artificial Intelligence. Although it mostly struck me as an ultimately failed attempt to pay homage to the recently-deceased Stanley Kubrick, there was nevertheless one concept/image in it, which hit me like the proverbial ton of bricks, and I immediately started writing.
Although it’s probably quite likely that I have taken the symbolism in an entirely different direction than what was intended, I’m not all that concerned. Likewise, anyone else who had to sit through that two and some odd hours of their life that they’ll never get back, will remember the particular scene I refer to.
