After initial field tests with the Mk1 version which was a solid black and held together entirely by duct tape. I gained valuable feedback. The base of the tail needs to have a form fitting groove cut into it to attach comfortably when worn. There needs to be some kind of removable covering for the gap in between the tail and the pants it attaches to.
Also. it was noted that the duct tape on the surface no matter how well applied did not look good at all up close and tended to unravel with use. So the new design strips away the black covering an replaces it with a thicker brown one that is held on with hot glue.
The seams are still visible up close but can be overlooked. Additionally, the hot glue once applied correctly provides a very reliable bond that isn't visible.
The final setup for the tail base still needs some work as the flaps dont attach to the pants just yet. I intend on getting some velcro attached to the pants and the tail to allow a sturdy fit.

nice of you to ask.
The basis consisted entirely of this stuff
http://www.swiminn.com/swimming/gol.....roducte=174776
(pool noodles: cheap as chips and works just fine as a substitute for foam blocks)
It took alot of cutting and shaping with a knife and then duct taping to get the right width.
Ontop of the duct tape I hot glued vinyl leather panels. Now theorectically it's waterproof as nothing in it will be damaged by water, but the vinyl's cloth backing might soak up and take forever to dry.

Oh pfft, why didn't I think of that. I've seen that done before. *facepalm*
My question is though if those pool noodles are hollowed like the ones from walmart/anywhere else I've seen. If they aren't, then how'dja get the tapering to be so smooth past the point where you could carve the narrower parts of the tail from the noodle.
Stupid tubes *shakefist*
