Shadowcats lurk at the edges of battlefields and devour the dead and dying. People who see it think the belly fur is reddish coloured because it is stained with the blood of soldiers. Its fur is thick and course, which helps defend it against some weapons, but a good sword or spear thrust in close range could kill it. Its incredible swiftness has led some people to think it is a ghost, as arrows appear to almost pass through it. Superstitious people think Shadowcats are the dead enemies brought back from hell, as the creatures have been known to attack villages when there haven't been any battles for a long time. Others think that the creatures are actual demons claiming the souls of the dead.
