by the by...telling someone that is suicidal their ideas are stupid is really not helpful. Trust me in this, they know, but when you're at that point you stop thinking logically and having people just tell you suicide is stupid and not the answer makes you afraid of even admitting your feelings.

Been there, done that. Glad it didn't work for me either. I found out I kind of like living for some strange reason.

I did too, after time and such. I'm really glad my twisted mind found reason not to go through with it at the time.

Oh I tried but failed. I won't go into details. I realized that I do have a lot more to live for than I had thought when I made the attempt. I also learned not to bottle up so much over time which is really weird for an extrovert.

It really is the wrong word. I know you're trying to be helpful, but your kneejerk reaction to someone saying "suicide" is exactly why people fear even bringing it up.

I'm sorry to be cold, but that sort of rhetoric is unhelpful. If you don't know what you're doing with potential suicide then just shut up. It's harsh but such things are extremely serious and the delightful spurts of "it's not worth it" don't mean shit to someone in that situation. They need help. Professional help!

Assuming someone is just being stupid, or doesn't know "it's not worth it" is never going to help anyone. People that are suicidal can't think straight. Their brains aren't functioning properly.

I can talk about it flippantly now, because it was years ago, I haven't had a serious thought on it since, but I can still remember with nightmarish clarity exactly how fucked up my thoughts were and the old saying of "it's not worth it" was in fact the worst thing for me to hear at the time.

No I've never done that. I'm usually fairly careful in suit and would get out of suit before there's a risk of falling asleep in it.

I have been taking 12 credits a semester and summer classes. generally 6 creds is full time so it's not something they recommend.
