I don't know how I ever missed commenting on this piece of art. It may be simple in comparison to many other paintings on this site, but it is certainly one of the pieces I admire the most. I saved it down onto my hard drive when it was first posted, and I have looked at it so many times since then. I did not add it to my favourites until about a year ago, but I forgot to leave a comment.
I live in the southern parts of Sweden, and sometimes we have really long and cold winters with a lot of snow. The last two winters were like that, and it was wonderful. I love snow. I live in the middle of a secluded forest, and go for long walks by myself, simply enjoying the serenity and beauty of the snow-covered landscape.
The current winter is so far too warm and too devoid of snow for my liking, but this picture conveys in me the very same feeling that I feel when I am standing by myself in a quiet, beautiful snow-filled forest, and allowing the snow to not only embed the world in soft tranquility, but also my own emotions, making me feel calm, good and peaceful.
I also happen to feel an affinity for reindeer, and quite often I feel like I am part reindeer myself. I sometimes drive up to the north during the winters, and now and then I have had the opportunity to be completely surrounded by large herds of peacefully grazing reindeer, as I am walking amongst them, and I do feel a kinship with them.
This particular painting touches me immensely, for I feel like it is a painting reflecting my own inner self.
It is a very special emotion that fills me whenever I am looking at this painting. Thank you for creating something that makes me feel so immensely good.
