maybe because the subconscious and conscious mind are more closely together when you are tired
or maybe as you become drowsy your mind half slips away to the land of dreams as part of you remains in the waking realm of consciousness
i pondered the same thing for awhile but wasn't completely sure why i draw better when tired. oh well :)
