Here's this guy again. He's the last of his species (potentially) and trying to repopulate with some kind folks. His species is parasitic until they reach adolescence - resembling glossy chitinous spiders (or something to that effect) that leech energy from their host little by little.
It's hardly fatal, unless you're already starving to death, or for some reason have stumbled upon an entire hive of them and have the whole lot of them bond with you. Once they reach Adolescence they undergo a metamorphosis, probably with some kind of gooey coccoon or something, and emerge looking like a xenomorphic version of whatever race is the host's young.
From that point it's like raising a child. a somewhat creepy child that your neighbors will always watch out of the corners of their eyes.
