Just did a quick one to start off my holiday. I drew these two after watching "It Came from the Depths" of the new TMNT show.
I never expected Mikey to be so cute. XP
I've taken quite a liking to the show's version of Leatherhead. He might not have the buff physique he did in 2003, but his personality and attitude are practically the same.
He's still the lovable savage alligator.
Hmm, I guess this is my first TMNT fan art ever. XD I wonder if I'll be making anymore soon....

Well, my design is a little buffer compared to the one in the show. LH is big in the series, but his muscles aren't really that noticeable. I guess the character designers really put some thought to the "Mutant" part.
Here's a Ref. Sheet of LH:

LH's backstory in the 2012 series isn't really a happy one. :/ Don's puppy love relationship with April is probably just for comedy. I don't think it'll be anything serious. Leatherhead still has his intelligent side, but knowing his backstory, I dunno if he is on par with Donnie in this series.

Leatherhead was found by the Utroms and was mutated. But since the Utroms in this series are villains, they didn't adopt Leatherhead like what they did in the 2003 ver. He was turned into a test subject and subjected to horrible experiments. LH broke out six months before meeting the turtles.

Yeah but now it seems they want to pair him with Mikey, and imo that particular turtle gets enough screen time as is, dont get me wrong hes funny and all but I liked how Don, whos all about having a clear, scientific mind played off with LH's more primal and savage side.
Oh well, maybe its just because im more used to the old show, ill have to watch some more episodes with LH to see where they take this...

If you haven't watched the whole 2003-2009 seasons, I'd only recommend watching only seasons 1-5. Fast Forward and Back to the Sewers had extremely terrible art style. Like 4kids wanted to try the "anime-ish" cartoon style. Trust me, not watching it will save your eyes. However, I won't stop you if you really want to watch the whole 7 seasons.
Not exactly. My design shows a little more muscle than the official design for LH. Here's an early ref sheet of him: http://tmnt.wikia.com/wiki/File:Lea.....oncept_art.jpg
