I think that she (I recall its a she) lived longer not only thanks to that transformation, but probably because she was one of that really lucky cats that can live for very long.
Make it Brendan was 27 when he got back to Kells. Probably Brendan's uncle got that old due to the sadness of thinking that Brendan was dead.
