you know this reminds me of a story I wrote back in 2002 to promote my rpg. I had these time and space travelers walking around on my main world after they were abducted at the point in which their original time line would have either ended or taken a bad turn for the worst. Paatosia looked up and saw a pretty bird way up in the sky, she wiped the sticky berry juice on her space coveralls staining them with blackberry juice and said: "Hey everybody what kind of bird is that I can't tell"... Galvon looked that way and noticed it was getting bigger and looking like something that was impossible, only talked about in nursery rhymes, it got really big and more reptilian as it fly closer He realized it really was a dragon, though it made him freeze and someone said out loud with his voice: "That's impossible! Dragons don't exist!"
I wrote 17 chapters including the character studies, dialogue and action and other scenes of all eight people different races and the reason they were all captured in the first place, along with why their captor left them on this new far future world in the first place. And the reason why he could not go through with his original plan, trading them service for saving them from a fate worse than death, but unable to double cross them later on after he'd used them. I did a really elaborate story line with hooks in it. I'm going to wait until the end of the current school year when I pass my English grammar course before I start to rewrite the whole thing and finish the other 20 chapters of the first book. I planned on it being an intro to my Role Playing game like dragon lance was for AD&D. I planned on there being three books in all about 30-40 chapters each.
I discovered that once I mastered astrology that by using an alternate form of figuring out years that it made an excellent way to create character studies completely with how people would act in a situation. I can't get sued, the years I used won't happen for another thousand years at least!
