My car has a T5 from the factory lol I'll need a different flywheel, as my engine is a 1 piece rear main, and this is a 2 piece. Though, from what I have read, and my buddy has told me, the T5 can't hold up to a 350, which is why the Camaro never came with a 350/T5 combo from the factory. I would LOVE a T56, but those are a chunk of money, and then I have to drop another $400 for a flywheel that will work with the rear main on this =P And Yeah, the burnt copper turned out really well ^^ This engine is probably just going black, honestly.
There's no real difference in price between the 1-piece and 2-piece seal components anymore. You should be able to pick up a stock-type cast flywheel for less than a hundred bucks. Forged, SFI-approved: $180 and up.
The T5 -was- used behind the 350 (the WC version). If you plan on leaving the new engine pretty well alone, the T5 that's in it now should hold up ok. 350lb-ft is about max for the standard-duty T5. Don't try drag-launching it, it'll survive for a while. :p
No flywheel difference between the T5 and T56. In fact, I think the only thing different on the T56 was the hydraulic clutch release - the T5 was used with linkage, cable, and hydraulic, so even it may be the same! You might try finding a T5WC. The LT1/LT4 Vettes and Camaros had 'em. Good luck!

lol Sorry, I should have said they didn't offer it with the third gen Camaros. And they were using WC T5s in the third gens from 88-92, I think. Might be 89. Not every Camaro was a WC in that range, and I don't know if mine is or not (haven't looked at it, yet) but it is a possibility. And it depends on what I can find for what price, as to how stock the motor stays. I never drag launch the Camaro lol It needs a LOT more love before I even think about that (emphasis on think) And everywhere I have read for the third gens, you can use the pedals, master and slave, driveshaft, and bolts for the housing to tranny and housing to engine from the T5, but you need a T56 flywheel, clutch, etc.
