Why would a ship have a handbreak?

I don't know. You tell me.

Maybe you should step back and ask something that assumes less, perhaps: IS that a hand brake?
The answer is: No, it isn't.

Oh, of course, silly me. The only thing that it could be is a connection to the galley. When she pulls the lever, that is the signal for the galley to prepare a pineapple pizza at least 17' across (a smidgen less, and they walk the plank.) This pizza must be ready and delivered on the backs of four one-year-old cats, all whited except for the one on the far right corner which much have a black front-right paw. One time, the cat's front-left paw was the black one; they never made that mistake again. This lever is pulled every hour, on the hour, except for Tuesdays, because that is fish taco and marlot night.

That is my interpretation until otherwise corrected.

Does the smoke comes from a steam engine?

There have been many sketches lately of T on a ship flying through the sky.
And being awesome.

Surely this has no significance whatsoever to the current plotline and is in fact entirely irrelevant!

Ah the smell of the sea, the wind at your back, and Cap'n T shouting directly in your ear. What more could a sailor ask for?
