Hane-tokage are a creature I came up with a while ago, kind of like feathered dragons in the draco family but have feathers not scales and are incapable of fire. Their feathers would change drastically in the seasons and would reflect the season.

Summer -In summer they loose their extravagant colours from the mating season and blend in with the trees in which they live and settle down with their mate and eggs. If a male or female did not lay a clutch then they will often be seen aiding others in their territory as though they have individual nests if there is another Hane-tokage nearby then they will be in the same flock.
