I rarely ship it because it is either awkward (toon Link line other than spirit tracks), they are some form of related (minish cap and other 8bit games in the line), or it just doesn't or would never work out (adult Link games). I find myself shipping Link with other characters and putting Zelda with ones that make sense. That or I stick her with Midna/Gannon for my own sick amusement. X3
I must admit that the canon-side of me always sees Link-x-Zelda, and not just because of the games (it just makes sense to me, with the way the universe is set up), but I often pair Link with either Midna, Princess Ruto, or Saria. Most often with Midna lately (the whole 'star-crossed lovers' thing has always appealed to the romantic in me), but originally it was with Saria (always wanted him to end up with her in Ocarina).
Anyway, I got off track. x3 Nice piece, and faved of course, even if it isn't my favorite shipping pair. Oh and Merry Christmas!

I think it was the ending to Twilight Princess that did it to me. With the way she seemed to really care for him, and was genuinely saddened that they couldn't see each other any more. I always imagined the tear she shed was because of that, but that somehow he found a way to be with her again. In my mind, he managed to find the Ocarina of Time again after all those years and- together with the Master Sword- managed to open up a gate to the Twilight Realm. Though it was only temporary, and one-way, so he could never return to the Realm of Light again. He found her and even though they argued a bit at first (her thinking he could never be with her, and him telling her it was his destiny to be there), he finally convinces her to accept him.
He becomes her Twilight Knight and- after a few years of faithful service- marries her and together they rule that realm honorably and justly, with her later bearing him a son. A son who- because of his own destiny- manages to find a way back to the Realm of Light, and thus the cycle of the Hero of Time continues.

A daughter is nice as well, but I give them a son so the Hero of Time thing can continue. After all, Link has to appear in Hyrule somehow, so I have it where she bears him a son. So that way he can find his way into the Realm of Light and become the next Hero of Time when Hyrule one again, and thus continue the cycle. She can bear him a daughter later, of course, but I wanted them to have a son to continue on in the usual tradition. Plus, with him being half-Twili, he would know magic and so would be better able to use it (they never explained how Link was able to use magic in the first place, since those Hyrulians that could use magic had been banned to the Twilight Realm ages ago).
Their daughter would naturally become the next ruler of the Twilight Realm, and someday help out her brother the Hero of Time. Thus the two of them would embark on a quest to save both realms from some new evil (Ganon most likely, though he's getting a little cliche anymore). But that's just my writer's mind at work. I have way too many plots like this floating around in my head. x3

Well...yeah. But him being half Twili would better explain- at least to me- how he's able to use magic. Sure, the whole Tri-Force thing is one explanation, but the half-Twili thing just explains it better for me. But yeah, you're right, he's always pure Hylian in the games. I just liked the idea of her bearing him a son and continuing the tradition that way, but the cycle could continue in the usual fashion (him being reborn over and over throughout time, as the need arises); I just liked my version better. x3 There's just something romantic about Midna and Link's son saving Hyrule in the future, just like his parents before him. Since they had special destinies I wanted him to have one as well, but hell their daughter could fill that role too (I know, the Hero of Time is always a male, but I wouldn't mind a story where their daughter stepped up to that challenge). I like the idea of her saving a world she hasn't even seen, like a reverse of what Link did in Twilight Princess.
This will always be my Zelda OTP, You can literally feel the tension between them. Needless to say Nintendo needs to bring Vaati back. He's a better villain than Ganondorf and actually worked to get where he is er was in the games he's been in. Plus I've always admired how he had the determination and dedication to prove everyone wrong. (Something I'll unfortunately never do.)
