A young Carmel accompanies her family on her first trip to try and convince the Empress to start a Bardic College.
WARNING: THIS IS DEPRESSING. I cried a little myself. ;_; But I'm sappy like that.
This is my first non-scrap writing prompt (as I attempt to catch up a bit). The story fits into Omega Archer Ryouji canon, though it doesn't pertain to the plot-time. You get to see a few things, mostly just in hints, that may or may not be revealed in full towards the end of the main story. This references a whole bunch of stuff. Umm, just ask me questions if you have any, I guess.
This is for the "a visit from the queen" prompt, although it's more like a visit to the Empress. It's just what I came up with.

That is the ending! ._. Grandaddy dies and they go back home, beaten and humiliated.
Carmel was initiated trial-by-fire style into her family's legacy of failure, and that's why she's in the Shogunate in the present timeline. Aside from hoping that their quest might be better completed somewhere other than the Empire where the Empress has ruled for centuries, she refuses to watch her father die broken and humiliated on the palace steps like his father before him.
And you missed me? I thought I was right here! D:

Aww. :D Well, I did do a lot of commenting and reposted all my OAR chapters! I'm working on getting time to write and stuff, but I've got another site full of critiques to catch up on still. I get no rest this Christmas break!

I somehow get the feeling that those people don't actually look at anything more than the thumbnails. I really have to wonder, too. c.c

Wasn't as sad as I expected. Well, okay, the welcome they got isn't friendly at all, outright harsh and blunt it is and the old man dies, or so I understood, but the story could be darker. Actually, I saw the world you painted with your words quite interesting and fascinating. Although, the story is told in some sort of a fantasy setting, it should be fascinating. Anyway, I liked this. Only negative comment is that there is no character with some interesting dialect. Otherwise, great little piece.
Well, to get more of the world, check out my Omega Archer Ryouji stories. :3 I haven't updated it in a while, but I should have two more chapters coming out soon (I hope). And now that you mention it, I haven't played with dialects or languages in this setting for some reason. <.< Huh, interesting.
