Waiting for you get pull yourself together so I can start to heal.
So vent art because I can.
Before people worry, I'm cool. I just thought of this while I was dealing with something a bit ago.

I love sad art. c:
But if you don't wanna look "attention-whorey" when doing sad art, my suggestion is to try detaching yourself from it a little, maybe? Say, you want to draw/write about something that's got deeply personal meaning to you, instead of a self-portrait or use of your fursona, make up characters as embodiments of certain trains of thoughts, feelings, ideas, or even other people! You get some great new ideas out of doing that.
If something happens in my life that makes me feel, I create characters, events, personalities, symbols, metaphors, conflicts, resolutions, and so on, which I can turn into something complete to tell a story about it (but for me, they remain as ideas or synopses). It's an approach that helps you to create stuff that also ends up being "accessible" and enjoyable for many. c: It's a great method of expression that not only feels good, but your personal association becomes subtle, which makes it that more interesting to both make and look at!
Basically, if you wanna make vent art or a retelling of something personal, bury it under something which makes it retain every thought and feeling you wanted originally, but doesn't place you, the artist, on the pedestal most online artists want to avoid as their reason for not posting "meaningful" work. And the "burying" material can be something that sticks with you, e.g. new characters and stuff - I have a bunch of characters and most of them are almost literally a part of me.
But that's my 2 cents!
