I wonder if humans had always been anthro would women still paint their nails or in this case claws? Would the habit have ever formed if we had claws and not nails? I would assume nails being flate are easier to paint than claws which are round sharp numb things.

Erm, I hope that didn't come out wrong…what I mean is that they're not doing anything particularly "emotive"; Erica's just kind of concentrating on what she's doing, and Ricky's just kind of going along with it…I dunno…

Well, I actually think I know what you're getting at.

There are different levels of cartoonish expression - cartoons being all about symbolizing rather than direct representation. So you can have something like this ---> http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6476695/ in which the characters' squash-and-stretch are more exaggerated, or something like this --> http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9805738/ in which there's very little exaggeration of motion or body shape. My stuff lies somewhere between these two.

I really like this image and do you know why? Because for years I've wanted to draw a comic explaining proper claw care and those doing the trimming being careful not to nick the "Quick" of their friend's claws. Besides, this image is undeniably charming.
