Surprised? Didn't think there would be another issue this year? Neither did I. But at the last moment I found I had material for an article on Christmas -- most of it already written. All I had to do was fit the pieces together. By coincidence I had a second piece that also fit the holiday season, as well as a number of letters. The only logical thing to do was to publish a snap issue, finished just aftere midnight, on the morning of the last day of the year. It may just possible be the last fannish zine of 2012.

Hah, okay I do read fast, an 800 page book is a day read for me after all. Glad you had a wonderful Christmass. Our kids came over and of course Anna over cooked like normal (still a lot in the freezer...) Sadly on Christmass morning her older sister called to tell her that their father had died the Thursday before. She only found out when a relative spotted the two line obituary in the Lubbock Avalanche Journal and wonder of wonders, the Funeral would be the 26th. Seems the intake forms at the Alzheimer's care home listed his sister as his wife and she doesn't like anyone. Impossible to make that drive especially with the Winter storm that came in Christmass night. 412 miles one way in six hours is difficult at our age, you see I'm 61 as well.
This of course was a double blow for Anna's sister. Sabrina was in Alabama while her ex-husband house sat for her. They had been texting and he suddenly stopped. She tried calling, no answer and it took her four days to get back. To find him dead in the front bedroom. Four days dead from an apparent stroke.
Anyway we had a good day with the children, they are 23 and 25 now. I don't know how much longer they will be dropping by as Andrew lives on the other side of San Antonio so can't make it often now. Rebecca is thinking of taking a job in Austin. I've been diagnosed with beginning kidney failure due to diabetes and high blood p5ressure so my countdown clock has started.
Ah well, it was a nice Christmas, I had time with my children, my wife has been home almost a week, the first time this century in fact. Spending time with her is a great deal of fun and even though we argue now and then we never go to bed mad.
My best to you, long life and great happiness.

The funeral was planned by... The fathers sister who has power of attorney and who hates the children. Appears she wanted it on the 25th but no one would oblige her. Of course it was planned for the day after Xmass, its her style. As to telling Anna Christmas morning, Sabrina was trying to give her time to get to the funeral if she could. Sabrina had learned only minutes before herself.
