Here's a page of doodles I did a few months back. I've been kind of on a vulture kick lately, especially since I moved into my new house.
There's a large population of turkey vultures gliding around at all times, and quite frankly, they fascinate me. I find them, and most other birds of prey really appealing, with their beaks twisted into those little sneers and those miffed looks in their eyes.
So I did a few little studies of them and managed come up with sort of a character.

There were a few turkey vultures in my hometown. They just loved to glide around the bluff and rest on the towers up there. I used to watch them whenever they came around.
I really like that curious expression. It fits a turkey vulture well. It would be neat to see this guy in full color.
Oh and do you have any advice on how to do back, top and bottom views of a weird head? I've been trying and failing miserably lately. It's similar to this bird's head but then it's not. I tend to flatten stuff out too much, even with a box in perspective as a guide. http://25.media.tumblr.com/0e81df82.....zufo1_1280.png

Hmm, well some of those arent bad at all actually. The straight on front and back views can be a pain though.
I recommend going a bit slower with harder angles, and working with one volume at a time. Consider how the shapes recede into the background and how the contours of the shape come into play.
