This was my initial reaction when I became a donkey; braying and bucking around like the little jackass I was. It's funny to think that Pinocchio and Lampwick didn't hear any of that racket when all the boys on Pleasure Island changed. They must have been really focused on their game of pool. Why didn't Jiminy see any of the boys transform when it happened? He was out in the park looking for Pinocchio so you'd think he would see it happen.

That's actually an excellent question. The other boys basically disappear and only reappear when Jiminy sees them as donkeys. Also, why did Lampwick take so long to change? Certainly some of the boys must have seen other boys change, why didn't they try to escape? Did they try but failed? How did the bad guys capture all of them so quickly? Certainly some would have resisted.
I can see bucking and braying making someone panic even more. They'd know those are donkey things and being in a situation where doing so suddenly comes naturally and is perhaps the only thing you can would just make the panic worse, which would lead to even more bucking and braying.
