Hey there, while this is the last day of the year, and with me posting about three or four pictures on here tomorrow all at once, I figured I bust out a character I drew a year or two ago with my new abilities.
And here we've got Genbu, a Torterra man. Interesting story about this guy, a few years ago, way before I was brought into the furry fandom, I had a friend who was a furry ask me if I could design a team of pokemon based characters, what my lead character would be.
At first, I said he was crazy for it. But, since I'm not the most sane person around, I decided to make Gen here. It wasn't until later that I decided to actually do something with him and put him into an actual team of other characters (I guess that's when the seeds were slowly starting to take root in me for furry-dom).
But yeah, when I got Diamond and later Platnium for the DS, I always started off with Turtwig. Oddly enough, I actually pulled a female Turtwig first time I started up Platnium, and through vigorous training, I managed to get a powerful tank that I appropriately named Genbu, which is the name of the infamous Black Tortiose, one of the four gate guardians in lore.
Back to the topic at hand, Genbu's real name is Gentaro, but, he was called Gen by his family, and his nickname became Genbu (mostly due to the team he joined up with. They traveled all over the Sinnoh region, challenging the local gyms in hopes of becoming the top battling team of the region. Unfortunately, when they reached the PKM League, they lost... Badly.
Now, this was before Gen was actually a Torterra, when he joined the team at sixteen, he was still a Turtwig. Due to his lack of experience in battle, as well as other factors, Gen's team lost in the first round. After they lost, the team's leader disbanded the team, and they all went their own ways.
In Gen's case, he went to go back to his family, who had actually moved to Unova while he was on his young travels. There, he spent the next six years of his life going to school and spent his free time training with one of his more... Enthusiastic friends, an Emolga girl named Victoria who had a bit of an interest in Japanese fandom. Eventually, Gen managed to evolve fully into a Torterra, where he finally managed to become a force to be reckoned with.
Then one day, Gen was contacted by the former leader of the team, asking him for a favor. Curious, Gen (along with Victoria chasing him) decides to head to the Jhoto region to meet his former leader.
Wanna learn more about the story? Wait for when I do another character portrayal.
Interesting fact about Gen, he actually has the tree and rocks on his back trimmed and chipped regularly so he can actually fit into his shirts. Like his hair, they grow back just as fast and he finds it rather annoying.
If you liked this character and the story that came with it, let me know and I'll continue it. Floral shirt for the win.
