After Jerry begged his parents for an entire week to stay up on New Year's Eve, they agreed, figuring he'd end up falling asleep anyway. To their surprise, though, he managed to stay up a good three hours past his typical bedtime, but eventually found himself succumbing to sleep. Realizing the battle was futile, the little munk set his stuffed companion, Rupert, on the window sill and told him to fill him in on anything he might miss if he dozed off, then settled down on the couch.
Happy New Years, everyone! Here's to my last picture of 2012. I think it's a pretty good way to end the year, although I had a bit of trouble drawing the fireworks. D:

I dont know what paint package you use to draw with. you say your trying to pracice shading and the floor is shaded really well but i dont see much other shading, for example behind your neck should be pretty dark and where the pillow meets the sofa. if you have something like sai or gimp, using the multply or burn tools can help with shading and equally the overlay and luminosity tools could help make some awesome fireworks *hugs* pretty cool pic though.
I use Sai, and depending on the look I'm going for I'll generally use multiply (or overlay if I'm using really dark shades) but I think I tend to... overcompensate, since I dislike really dark shading, but my shading ends up being too light. Also I think some of it is because FA automatically converts pictures that are too big to JPG which makes it really grainy. I should probably start shrinking my pictures down to FA size to avoid that.
As for the fireworks, I wanted to give them the impression of being somewhat far away, but I wasn't sure how to do that so I tried the basic stuff.
*hugs back* Thank you for taking the time to give critique, I appreciate it lots and will work at it.
